Site Upgrade - PHP Nuke 8.1
Posted by Sandy on Monday, May 12 2008 @ 12:25:35 CEST (143 reads)
Amerikanska Site Updates Looks like we will be upgrading to the paid version of PHP Nuke (the content management code that runs Amerikanska). One of our faithful members, TimK, stumbled upon a "bug" (it's actually a security code in the current version of PHP Nuke) that will hopefully be fixed in the newer version.

So, look for an announcement soon, after we have run the new version through the rigors of our testing environment, that the site will be taken down to implement the upgrade.

The 2008 Amerikanska Donation Drive - CLOSED!
Posted by Sandy on Wednesday, April 30 2008 @ 19:29:50 CEST (241 reads)
Amerikanska Site Updates

Current: 1500 SEK
Goal: 1500 SEK

Yay! We have reached our goal with the help of eight anonymous donors. Thanks so much!

____________

Those who've been here a while know what this is. It's an annual thing this time of year, started by the founder of the site, Flame. I am continuing on in that tradition, since Amerikanska is really your site.

Amerikanska is a non-profit and ad-free site. All work on the site is done voluntarily.

However, hosting a website costs money.

Currently, it's 1500 SEK per year. That includes costs for hosting the site and the domain, which comes due again in September. We had been talking about moving the website to another host, but decided that the excellent service provided by Datakultur could not be rivaled.

If you're able, please help keep Amerikanska going with a donation to help cover these costs. All donations go to the cost of hosting only, no one is paid to maintain it, not even myself. Only a maximum of 1500:- in donations will be accepted. In the event it happens to go over that, additional donations will be held to pay for the domain name and/or held for next year's costs.

Donations are voluntary, helping to keep the site both ad-free and free to use, which it has been since 2001.

U.S. Embassy Information and Advisories Date: Fri 02/29/08 11:31 AM

The recent declaration of independence of Kosovo and the formal U.S. recognition of this action brings with it the possibility of public demonstrations, which may turn violent and anti-American in nature.

In Stockholm, an authorized demonstration/march by the group Serbiska Ungdomsorganisationen - The Serbian Youth Organization -- will begin at Mynttorget, Gamla Stan, Stockholm on Saturday, March 1, 2008, at 12:30.

Amerikanska Site Updates Well, it's been just about 4 weeks since I was handed the reins of Amerikanska. In that time, there have a been several minor changes made and a couple of major ones, as well.

My husband, aka Zeta, has been busy at work checking out some bugs in the PhpNuke code and we have been cleaning up the database.

The 2007 Amerikanska Donation Drive (CLOSED)

Amerikanska Site Updates

Current: 1200 SEK
Goal: 1200 SEK

Thanks go out to 6 anonymous donors and one person who didn't tell me whether they wanted to remain anonymous or not, we have reached our goal for this year. Thanks so very much!

____________

Those who've been here a while know what this is. It's an annual thing this time of year, started by the founder of the site, Flame. I will continue in that tradition, since Amerikanska is really your site.

Amerikanska is a non-profit and ad-free site. All work on the site is done voluntarily.

However, hosting a website costs money.

Currently, it's 1200 SEK per year. The costs for hosting the site may be changing sometime this year, as we hope to move the site to our own webhost rather then pay for two separate hosting services. Upgrading our account to accomodate Amerikanska will cost a little extra, initially, but will lower the total cost by almost half of what it is right now, while upgrading the services. So, next year's drive will require less in donations!

If you're able to, please help keep Amerikanska going with a donation to help cover these costs. All donations go to the cost of hosting only, noone is paid to maintain it, not even myself. Only a maximum of 1200:- in donations will be accepted. In the event it happens to go over that, additional donations will be held to pay for the domain name and/or held for next year's costs.

Donations are voluntary, helping to keep the site both ad-free and free to use, which it has been since 2001.
