Site Upgrade
Posted by Sandy on Thursday, February 05 2009 @ 00:14:09 CET
Amerikanska Site Updates To try to stem the ever increasing flow of SPAM on the site, we upgraded from PHPNuke 7.9 to 8.1 earlier in the evening. It went relatively well, with only one period of panic when we got a database error. That problem was quickly resolved and the site was back up in just a couple of hours.

Of course, you realise that this means that there will invariably be problems and bugs thoughout the site. So, if you run across a bug, please use the Contact Admin link in the left sidebar menu, explaining as clearly as possible the nature of the bug and what you were trying to do when you received the error.

One thing that I have not done, as yet, is require Admin approval of new members. I'll wait a few days/weeks to see if this upgrade has helped. If not, I will then implement that step in the registration process. If we decide that a little more security is needed, you may end up having to enter a code from a graphic to log on to the site. But, we haven't come to that, quite yet.

Known Issues

*There are several themes listed as available, however, even though I have enabled the ability for users to change their theme, it does not work at this time and the only theme that works is Blue Lagom.

*The recipes section seems to work, but shows that it needs to be updated.

ETA

Looks like we need to upgrade the forum, too, so expect more downtime over the next couple of days.
